Hello, beautiful sexy people.

With this publication, I would like to open a series of writings dedicated to nourishment. Very likely, you will be thinking - is it Captain Obvious speaking?! But I am hoping that there will be someone who will find these postings useful, and I will do my best to keep them informative, short and sweet.

We are made of what we consume, and those things can make us a better or a worse version of ourselves. Food can bring joy, food can heal anything, but sometimes it can also be harmful. They say, it is better to be rich and healthy than poor and sick, so knowing (and acknowledging) the rules of the game that we are all playing can increase our chances to win;)

Now, less psychology and more recipes. Food is pure magic. Making plant-based drinks at home is pretty easy, and it can become a calming ritual and a nice way to connect with what we put into our bodies. It will also help your body to actually absorb the nutrients, because some additives from shop-bought versions prevent the absorption.

Here are some rules to follow:

  • 1:4 ratio - one cup nuts/seeds + 4 cups water.

  • Nuts must be soaked in water for around 12 hours, then drained and rinsed.

  • A pinch of salt will work as a natural preservative and intensify the taste.

  • Add all ingredients to a blender and blend for a couple of minutes, then pour the mixture through a cloth/nut milk bag. Store in fridge in a clean bottle for up to 4 days.

Starting with almonds is a good idea.

Substitution.. 

If you want to have more fun, here are more ideas coming your way:

  • substitute a a part of nuts (or all of them) with shelled hemp seeds - those are one of the best things you can give to your body, rich in omega-3 (which is very anti-inflammatory), protein and minerals.

  • substitute a a part of nuts (or all of them) with sesame seeds - those are one of the best sources of calcium.

  • substitute almonds with cashews or other nuts.

Add..

Next level would be to add even more goodness. 

Try these:

  • Maca powder is great for normalizing hormones.

  • Turmeric is a great anti-inflammatory agent.

  • Cinnamon is great for boosting metabolism.

  • Vanilla is just great…

  • Nettle/raspberry leaf infusion is a great source of iron, magnesium and a bunch of vitamins.

  • A soaked date would help sweeten things up, however it is better to eat dates separately.

  • A splash of coffee (or a splash of milk in coffee?) is great because coffee is life.
